This versatile dress features a lined princess-seamed bodice, a lined and freestanding gathered skirt, an optional faux placket, and a wide, not quite-off-the-shoulder neckline topped with a split, bias- cut ruffle. Extra cutting lines are included to fit three different doll brands. Variations include a continuous ruffle, an unlined skirt, a simplified bodice, and separate pattern pieces to create a bonus top. You can choose to make a simple project or a lace-enhanced extravaganza–but however you make it, it’s guaranteed to dill your pickle!
Finally, for those who may be new to sewing, the directions have been written comprehensively with many explanatory details. If you’re an experienced seamstress, you’ll probably be able to sew this dress just by reading the written instructions located at the back of the pattern. Happy sewing y’all!
On Fit:
When you print this pattern, check to make sure that the scale is correct by measuring the 1” square scale on each page. Set the page margins on your printer to narrow and the print scale to none. When you begin sewing, pay special attention to the size of your seam allowances. This pattern was sized to fit snugly, and accurate seam allowances are important to achieve a good fit.
This pattern was sized on an American Girl WellieWishers™ Doll (Chest: 6-3/4″, Waist: 5-7/8″, Hips 7-3/4”) and Ruby Red Fashion Friends doll® (Chest: 7-1/8″, Waist: 6-1/4″, Hips: 7-3/4″). The pattern also fits Hearts for Hearts Girls® (Chest: 6-1/2″, Waist: 5-3/4”, Hips: 7″), which have very similar measurements. The most critical measurement is the waist size. If your dolls’ measurements are different from your doll of choice you may need to make adjustments to the pattern for an optimal fit.
